A man sits at his writing desk in a comfortable study, well-appointed with books and other treasures. Behind him a bookcase, full of books ancient and modern, well thumbed and annotated, reveal the contents and tracks of his mind. Outside the window the sun shines brightly but the heavy curtains are drawn. A ray of sun slips through a crack to fall across his desk and by its light the man writes feverishly of things remembered, lest the darkness falls and all things be forgotten.
